The town Rožňava does not deny its mining history. However, it is also looking for new ways. From the point of view of tourism, it has an excellent location. It can be a starting point for getting to know Gemer’s medieval churches, but also the nature of the Slovak Karst and the Slovak Paradise, and other attractions of the region. History is present at every step in Rožňava. There are sacred buildings, a cathedral or churches, as well as the Watchtower in the middle of one of the largest squares in Central Europe. The Way of Cross on the Rožňava Calvary is also a big attraction. At its end there is a reconstructed bell tower. Visiting this place off ers not only a spiritual dimension, but also comforting views of the town of Rožňava and the valley of the Slaná River.
