The village was founded in the middle of the 16th century according to Wallachian law. It belonged to the Orava estate and was founded by the Thurz family. Jakub Kohút from Ústí was entrusted by the settlement of the village, who brought fi ve families here, it was administered by hereditary mayors. Already in the 18th century, Klin became a village of merchants, craftsmen and linen-cloths manufacturers. At the beginning of the 19th century, brick houses, so-called linen manors started to be built. In addition to the agriculture, the inhabitants of Klin also engaged in cattle and sheep breeding, logging, rafting and shingling. Attractions: Statue of Christ on Grapa Hill (Rio de Klin). The statue is located in the village Klin. It rises to a height of 9.5 m on Grapa Hill, from where it looks at the surrounding countryside. Under its feet there is a beautiful view not only on Klin, but also on Orava Dam, Námestovo, Vavrečka, Suchá Hora and Roháče Mountains. When the weather is good, Zakopané and the Giewont Mount, in Poland, can be seen. The monument of Grapa Hill at an altitude of 686 meters is 9.5 meters high, the arm span is 7 meters wide, weighing even with a base of 23 tons. It is so far the third copy of the famous Brazilian statue in the world, the second on is the 23 m tall Christ the Redeemer in Lisbon, Portugal.
