The city centre includes an unique zone of landmarks created by historical, sacral and secular buildings, which dominates the triangle square with parish St. Michael Church. The city walls and medieval street architecture remained preserved. The city of Skalica off ers visitors a total of 12 monuments. Visiting them take place all year round in the form of guided tours, which can be ordered at TIK Skalica. The most visited monuments of the city is the roman St. George’s Rotunda. Gastronomic specialties are represented by Skalický trdelník, Skalická frankovka and Skalický rubín. Skalica is the city of diverse ways how to spend leisure time, it offers opportunities for tourism and sports of all kind. At the Skalica ponds, one of many newly built biking tours is leading. The harbour at the Baťa Channel is distant 2 km from the city centre and off ers e.g. many attractions, motor-boats rental, cabin boats and barges, playground for children, lookout tower, or sale of souvenirs. Below the Skalica picturesque vineyards, the 18-hole golf course is spreading. Only 7 km distant from Skalica there is the suburban holiday and tourist resort Zlatnícka Valley with more nature trails. The sought-after place for tourists is the sheepfold with chalet with chalet, in summer month it is the natural swimming pool with 50 m basin. Skalica is a natural centre of cultural life in the region. The summer tourist season opens in May with the event Trdlofest and it finishes with September festival Skalica Days.
