The Village Borský Mikuláš
With its area of 4,998 ha and a population of 3,952, the village of Borský Mikuláš is one the largest villages in Záhorie region. The fi rst mention dates from 1394. In the center there is a birthplace of the poet and priest Ján Hollý from the 18th century. At the highest point of the Záhorie lowland, there is a pilgrimage site „Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene“ from 1668. Modern civic amenities off er a wide range of educationa, sports, cultural and social activities. The culture is dominated by the unique carnival traditions. The village is known for its 50-year organization of international walking competitions Záhorácka dvadsiatka. Pine forests attract especially during the mushroom season.
